Roger Cross was the greatest authority on the Ripper
investigation in the Yorkshire Post group of newspapers. These newspapers have
a near monopoly on media news in Yorkshire. He vetted anything the Post did
about the subject. His father was a senior police officer and he had access to
much inside police information. He first heard about my allegations more than a
year after the conviction of Sutcliffe and he rejected them out of hand,
refusing to talk to or meet me.
